Calls and follow-ups

Phone orders and payments

Take food orders by phone, let callers pay by a texted link, and choose whether an order waits for payment before the kitchen sees it.

Your AI employee takes food orders from your menu, reads each one back with its total, and only places it once the caller says yes. Orders land on the Orders board. Set up the menu and the rules under Orders โ†’ Menu.

Pay by text

Callers can pay by a secure link instead of at pickup. Card numbers never go through the call. Turn it on under Orders โ†’ Menu โ†’ Pay by text, and set your sales tax there.

Payment links are sent by text, so they need texting turned on for your business.

Where the money goes

You choose one. Each shows its fee on a typical order, and the card marks the one with the lowest fees and the easiest to set up.

  • Your own Stripe account: money goes straight to your Stripe. You set up a free Stripe account once.
  • Your Square or Clover: money goes where your card sales already go. Clover needs one extra step: copy an address into Clover's Hosted Checkout settings, and paste the signing secret Clover shows back into Nerro.
  • Nerro collects for you: no payment account of your own. We pay you out to your bank, and you can see your payouts from the same card. Stripe asks for your bank details and ID once, on its own pages.

Nerro adds no fee to any of them.

Pay first

With Take payment before the kitchen gets it on, every phone order waits for its link to be paid: up to 30 minutes, or 15 with Clover. While it waits, the kitchen, the printer and your register don't see it. It's listed under Done as "Waiting for payment".

  • Paid: the order lands on your board as new, goes to your register, and the caller gets a confirmation text with the ready time.
  • Not paid in time: the order is cancelled, and the caller is told by text.
  • Paid in person, or you'd rather not wait: open the order and press Send to kitchen unpaid. Its payment link closes first.
  • Payment links not working: you get an alert, and callers are offered a message instead.

Refunds

Open a paid order and press Refund, then confirm. The whole amount goes back to the caller's card, through whoever took the money. Clover payments are refunded in Clover. A refund doesn't cancel the order: do that on the board if it won't be made.
